In 2014 The Choir was established by ABBA The Museum to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ABBA winning the Eurovision contest in Brighton UK in 1974. Audition was held at Adolf Fredriks musikklasser in January with over 500 applicants to find the 50 singers that would form the pop choir. Special ABBA music arragement was made for The Choir by Göran Arnberg (member of BAO Benny Andersson Orkester) rehearsal and the development of the choir was supervised by ABBA. A special edition of the famous ABBA Cats was designed for The Choir by Ove Sandström, designer of many of the iconic ABBA:s scene costumes. The artistic director is Karin Bäckström who also are the artistic leader of Adolf Fredriks Flickkör.


The Choir performed as ABBA The Museum/The Choir on the 6th April at Swedish TV4 and later the same day at ABBA The Museum in Stockholm together with Benny Andersson playing the piano on Thank you for the music. The day after The Choir performed at The Official International ABBA Anniversary Party at Tate Modern London on the 7th of April where Björn Ulvaeus and Anni-Frid Lyngstad presented The Choir on stage to the over 1500 ABBA Fans that had gathered to celebrate ABBA 40th anniversary.
